This blogpost for Claire & Thomas’s Wedding at Sawyer Family Farmstead took me awhile to put together because I had so many favorites that it was hard to even narrow it down to the photos included below. The process of wedding planning and getting to know Claire and Thomas started over 2.5 years ago. Their original wedding date was supposed to be in October 2020, but we all know how things in 2020 were delayed, so they finally ended up saying I do at the end of October 2021. I am sad for them that they didn’t get to get married on their original date, but having 2.5 years to get to know them was truly wonderful because they are a wonderful couple.
Their wedding day was a day I was very excited to see arrive and a day that I was very sad to see end! The day of their wedding arrived with rain and beautiful fall colors. While rain wasn’t the weather we were hoping for, I knew that they were just happy that the long awaited wedding day was finally upon us. Claire started out their wedding day getting ready in the cabin with her family and girlfriends. While Claire was getting ready she was ushered into the bridal suite to open a special gift from Thomas. Imagine Claire’s surprise when the special gift ended up being a song that Thomas had written and recorded just for her, when the song started playing there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Claire and Thomas were very lucky in that the rain stopped for all their most important photos, even their formal photos! During their ceremony officiated by the groom’s sister, Hannah, it was raining and the sun was shining at the same time, with the bagpiper playing in the background it was quite the sight to see and hear. After exchanging heartfelt vows the sun totally cleared up all the rain and I captured Thomas and Claire’s sunset photos with the view of Lake Glenville in the background. I will admit, we did quite chilly photographing those photos on that late fall day, but they were totally worth enduring the cold for. Claire and Thomas were married on Halloween weekend so their reception felt like a big party, complete with a costume parade and treat bags for the kids in attendance. By far the best part of their wedding though was when they had their final dance of the night outside on the porch. The rain was falling lightly and it was one of those moments that was just perfect. I will miss these two and being apart of their wedding festivities, but I am so happy that I got to know them in the first place and capture their love!
