Laura and Philip’s Elopement at Craggy Pinnacle back in April was amazing! Laura and I started talking last February about her elopement and the plan for their day took shape very quickly. Laura and Philip actually got engaged in Asheville and wanted to get married in a place that shared special meaning to both of them. They love the mountains in Asheville and wanted a spot that had a beautiful view so we settled upon Craggy Pinnacle.
I started Philip and Laura’s wedding day by going to where they were getting ready, Hotel Indigo! If you are looking for a hotel with modern decor and beautiful views from your room, then I highly suggest you check out Hotel Indigo. Laura was getting ready with her mom, Karen, and dog, Pepper, when I arrived and of course being the dog lover I am, I had to get some photos of Laura and Pepper together. Laura wasn’t planning on having a bouquet for their ceremony, but Philip’s sister, Diane, surprised her with one shortly before we left the hotel. Philip got ready with his brother, Joshua, and mom, Shirley, and it was so sweet seeing how much pride they took in helping him look his best on his wedding day. After a touching first look in the lobby of Hotel Indigo, we all piled into our cars and headed up to Craggy Pinnacle.
The plant life at Craggy Pinnacle can be quite fragile, so due to this, you can’t have your actual ceremony at the top of Craggy Pinnacle. We were completely fine with this policy, as its what’s best for protecting Craggy Pinnacle for future generations to enjoy! At the bottom of Craggy Pinnacle at the trailhead is a grassy spot where they allow wedding ceremonies to be held and this is where Laura and Philip said their wedding vows. Even though they eloped in mid April it was still very cold at Craggy, I’d be lying if I said our teeth weren’t chattering all through their ceremony. After their ceremony the sun came out and we headed up to the top of the Pinnacle for their couples photos. Their elopement was one of the very few times that I’ve had Craggy Pinnacle all to myself (without battling numerous other hikers and couples posing for photos) and I must say it was absolutely lovely.
