Ashlyn + Mason Minimalist Chestnut Ridge Wedding
Ashlyn and Mason’s Minimalist Chestnut Ridge Wedding was a dream to shoot! I have never had a couple that is as unequivocally afraid to be themselves as much as Ashlyn and Mason were. Last weekend I blogged their River Arts District Engagement Session and continuing in that vein I am happy to share some of my favorites from their wedding last weekend at Chestnut Ridge.
Ashlyn is a wedding planner in Charlotte and Mason is a Physical Educator for middle school students. Their wedding theme was minimalistic chic with tons of greens and crisp black & whites meets March Madness! I mean c’mon, with Mason’s profession and their love of basketball, they HAD to throw on some March Madness on the big screens during the reception. When you walked into their reception, it was like walking into a safari with all the pops of green everywhere- Dottie, their florist really knocked it out of the park! I told Ashlyn that I kept thinking how much fun it would be to have a bride rock a leather jacket and cool hat on their wedding- and that’s exactly the kind of look she went for to my surprise. Also- let’s just give a toast to how amazing Ashlyn’s bridesmaids looked in their white dresses alongside her!
But their wedding day was so much more than just how beautiful they all looked and how amazing their theme came together. It was about the people and their connections. It was seeing Ashlyn give her sister her bouquet with a piece of their late father’s favorite tie wrapped around it. It was seeing Ashlyn and Mason lean their heads on each other as they sang “Amazing Grace,” during their ceremony. And it was seeing how proud and full of love everyone felt for Ashlyn and Mason on their wedding day. That’s the kind of day that I love to be a part of.
Before we all get sappy- I’ll end with a cute little story! Mason’s mom is the church secretary at the church he grew up attending. Coincidentally she ended up driving the church bus to A+M’s wedding. Mason had his first kiss EVER on that bus, so we thought it would be fun for him to also have one of his first kisses with his new wife on that bus- and lo and behold the bus photos were born.
