I always naively think that I have seen all the beauty that Asheville has to offer and then I do a shoot like Jill and Mike’s Black Balsam Anniversary Session and I’m proven wrong all over again. The original plan was to do their shoot at Craggy Gardens, but due to Hurricane Irma that part of the parkway was closed. I quickly adapted and shot Mike a text and we settled upon Black Balsam. Black Balsam is located just past Graveyard Fields about 26 miles from the NC Arboretum, near milepost 420.
Sunday was a perfect fall day, I’m talking blue skies, just the right temperature, and buttery golden light. I’ve known Jill and Mike for quite some time now, I did their maternity photos and newborn photos of their little one Isabel. Mike surprised Jill with an anniversary session with me. How sweet and thoughtful is he?! guys take note, this is something any girl would love.
Jill and Mike have been married for 5 years and their love is still burning bright. I loved watching Jill instantly mold into Mike’s arms or the way Mike leaned into the crook of Jill’s neck. The best part was when they shared laughs about a joke that only the two of them understood. No marriage is perfect, but if you can find someone who will laugh with you, then all will be well. Here’s to laughter in the many years of marriage to come!
