Miranda + Kerry Asheville Day After Session

Hidden away in a once enchanted forest were the ruins of an ancient kingdom where once a fair queen and king ruled over their subjects and all who knew them, loved them…..

Miranda and Kerry trusted me completely when it came to choosing a place for their Asheville Day After Session, so I chose a place that was equal parts special to me and that I knew would feel special to them. Miranda & Kerry’s Wedding was a Lord of The Rings meet enchanted fairy forest theme and I wanted their day after session to simply feel like an extension of that. I took them to one of my favorite spots that I feel like is one of Asheville’s best kept secrets: a beautiful forest complete with crumbling ruins and everything!

Funny story: on Miranda and Kerry’s wedding day, Kerry and the guys weren’t able to find the whiskey they had buried (for the “Bury The Bourbon,” tradition…look it up if you aren’t sure what I’m talking about), so they weren’t able to dig it up! But the day after the wedding, they finally found it and brought it to their day after session to crack open for a toast! Even though they didn’t find it till the day after their wedding, it worked either way since they had great weather for both their wedding and session!

You wouldn’t think that Miranda’s dress made for good hiking clothes, but she made it look effortless as she traipsed through the forest. Miranda and Kerry’s Day After Session was the first one I’ve ever shot and it was incredibly nice to be able to shoot without the confines of a wedding day timeline! We were able to go where we wanted, when we wanted without thoughts of other people waiting on us to finish for the party to begin 😉 Kerry and Miranda are a very special couple and I feel like these photos capture a glimpse of their own special magic.
